Born in 1947, Bülent Erkmen graduated from the Graphic Design Deparment of Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts. He produced work within a wide spectrum ranging from design of logos, corporate identities, posters, book covers, books, magazines, brochures, stamps, calenders, packaging, 3D objects, advertising, illustration, periodicals, encyclopedias, newspapers, billboards, exhibitions, museums to urban signage systems, and theatre direction. Since 1980’s, he won over 100 awards in national and international exhibitions and competitions. His works were included in international publications. He participated in panel discussions and seminars, presented papers and held solo exhibitions. Over 80 of his works are included in the permanent exhibitions of several graphic design museums in France, USA, Germany, Finland and Poland. His articles, research projects and talks on various topics in graphic design were published and broadcast in several newspapers, periodicals and TV programmes. Having been one of the founding partners of the advertising agency “Reklamevi”, Erkmen founded BEK Design and Consultancy Ltd. in 1995. He continues to produce works of graphic design and is a lecturer at Mimar Sinan University’s Graphic Design Department. He's been a member of AGI since 1998 (Alliance Graphique Internationale).
